Its OK to be You

Hi All

I have just started the most "in thing"-Blogging. I had trouble understanding why people would want to write anything and everything even on diaries, let alone public forums, but I get it now that it indeed is a great way of sharing thoughts (through diaries with yourself and through this forum with others too).

Anyways enough about the benefits of blogging and stuff which I'm sure one can even "Google" it out. So this blog is about anything which comes off the top of my head right now as it is a meek first attempt of mine to blog.

I have no clue what exactly should I write here. I have been told the exact thing by my friend to write what comes "Off the Top Of My Head" but I have this very irritating habit of being always the perfectionist and writing things which would please everybody and would show amazingly on my profile.

Anyways I have gone through some fashion blogs and honestly I think, if you are a "Bimbo" you would love them. I know I might anger some here, but seriously guys, putting up pictures of yourself perfectly clad in an outfit (some fashion disasters and some amazingly well turned out) and blogging them to tell others what you have got for how much and from where is, in fact showing off. Some have become self proclaimed "fashionista" and moreover receive agony aunt "letters" from not so fashionable beings. I would here tell all- Please Be Yourself. Its OK for a girl not to have perfect figure, its OK if you have pimples, its OK if you are born with wheatish complexion in a place like India where "Fair" girls are considered Goddesses,(infact a friend of mine was just telling me today how after her road accident when she was admitted to the hospital, her relatives all came to see her & instead of asking how she was, they would just thank God that her "fair" face did not receive any marks), thats how hypocritical the society is. So people its really OK to be yourself.

The era of perfect Kareenas and Katrinas with size 0 figure and perfect hair and skin has infact been very beneficial to the business world. Gyms, health centers, skin clinics, beauty salons etc etc have grown in number - Consumerism has grown to a massive scale. The fair aspect - it is generating employment for millions, yes, but it is taking YOU away from YOU.

Even Baba Ramdev, who claims that he is all for Naturalization and stuff is infact giving boost to this Consumerism. He says that by doing Yoga regularly one can cleanse ones body of any intoxicants, true, but what about the n number of manufacturing and retail units under Patanjali Yogpeeth that he is advocating, having skin creams, hair creams, fat burning syrups etc, etc. But he cannot be blamed, he is also trying to rope in a share for himself in this growing industry.

However, this is here to stay, fortunately or unfortunately. But one suggestion : Try To Save the Old You From Becoming More and More like The New "Improved" You.

Cheers

Rashi
